We are thrilled to announce that Plus Education has been selected by the Navitas Education Trust to receive a two-year grant, allowing us to expand our reach to east Indonesia. The grant will see us delivering our flagship Plus English program in 10 primary and junior secondary schools across the remote Banda island chain in South Maluku province, in partnership with local NGO Heka Leka.
The project will develop the English language proficiency of over 1,000 school-aged children, preparing them for future work and participation in the digital, global age. It will also increase the capacity of local teachers to facilitate quality English literacy education and digital learning in what is a highly resource-constrained environment.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with Navitas and Heka Leka to extend the benefits of English literacy and digital learning to children in Banda,” said Plus Education CEO Swetha Prakash.
“This will be the ultimate test for us and for our technology, as you really cannot get much more remote than the Banda islands, but I have no doubt the strength of our partnerships will see us rise to the challenge.”
After many months of planning, we are now in the final stages of program design and roll-out and are looking forward to commencing the program later this month.
